Nail Art Instructions
These design techniques can be used on Natural, Acrylic, Gel or Fibre Glass Nails.
Nails need to be painted with a base colour that will be part of or enhance the finished nail design. This is usually a nail varnish that should be touch dry before painting any designs.
PAINTING
- Dotting/Spotting Very simple but effective designs can be achieved by placing dots of colour. Use either a very small round brush or marbling tool to apply the dots, alternatively you can use a 2 in 1 nail varnish that has a dotter built in.
- Lines/Stripes A very long, thin brush dipped in paint can achieve fine stripes and create quite sophisticated designs, the 2 in 1 pen will also do this form of nail art.
- Abstract/Marbling Abstract patterns or marbling can look stunning with a good choice of colour combinations. Flicking the colour from side to side with as fine brush or placing spots of colour on the nails and mixing then together with the marbling tool achieves this effect.
RHINESTONES
- These clear or coloured stones are usually made from glass or crystal and are cut with facets to reflect light, they come in vast range of sizes, shapes and colours. They can be used to encrust a design or a single place stone can bring a simple design to life. Apply to wet polish and cover with several coats of clear nail varnish.
GLITTER
- Glitter Polishes can be painted straight from the bottle with either the brush supplied or a fine nail art brush.
- Glitter Dustcan be used to to create more specific designs by picking the dust with a brush dipped in sealer, as this will give an effect that is denser than glitter polish. The dust will also stick to the wet sealer, so the tip of a nail dipped into the pot will collect the dust on the tip only where it is wet. Then sealed with a clear nail varnish.
- Strand & Hexagonal Glitter this glitter can be added in several ways, either by using a cocktail stick and placing each piece of glitter in place onto the wet base coat, or alternatively you can sprinkle the glitter onto the wet varnish and press into place. Another very easy method is to simply dip your wet nail tip into the glitter pot and shake off any excess.
TRANSFERS
- Transfers come in two types some that are stickered back and some that need to be soaked off. They are a very easy way to create a painted on design that is uniform.
